Your horoscope for December 2020 Horoscopes

Our Shared Planetary Picture

Major changes are arriving this month. We have a solar eclipse with the New Moon in Sag on 14th (at 16.18 GMT). Solar eclipses are said to favour women as the Moon surpasses the Sun. Each eclipse also belongs to an eclipse family and our present one carries the theme of emotional catharsis which should be interesting…

We also have the massive shift of Saturn and Jupiter (within two days of each other) out of Capricorn and into Aquarius. The conjunction (meeting) of these two planets occurs roughly every 20 years and is called a ‘Great Conjunction’. (And this time Jupiter and Saturn will be visibly closer in the heavens than they have been since 1623).

All of the Great Conjunctions since 1802 have been in Earth signs (apart from 1981) but our Great Conjunction this month occurs on December 21st (the winter solstice) and is going to be in Aquarius, an Air sign. This also heralds a new era of approximately 200 years where Air will be the predominant element for future Great Conjunctions until 2199. We are entering a new age!

Air rules communication, ideas, education, collective thinking, inventions and ideals. We can expect unimaginable technological developments too. We are moving away from the material (Earth) to the mercurial (Air).

Since 1969 we have been singing “This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius”. And it seems we are now about to cross the threshold of this long-awaited new age!!!

In ancient times the chart for the exact winter solstice gave the markers for the year ahead. In this year’s chart we have this Great Conjunction of innovation in Aquarius and Mars squaring Pluto (rebellious challenges to existing hierarchial structures), with Moon and Neptune in idealistic and compassionate Pisces.

Can we show up for each other and hold humanitarian ideals up high for a fairer world? Let’s try.

How could you help?

So what does this mean for us all?

Read the horoscope below for your Sun sign and for your Ascendant sign if you know it.

Aries:    Your ruling planet Mars is enjoying forging ahead this month, strong and determined in its own sign. And it is more than ready to challenge powerful Pluto in Capricorn (which Mars squares up to from 15th – 23rd). This is a major challenge to authority figures, governments, corruption and the status quo! Only valliant, fearless Mars has the courage to tackle Pluto. We are grateful to you Aries, for doing this and for your bravery.

Meanwhile, you may benefit from ‘the money of others’ and enjoy the pleasures of intimacy up to 15th as Venus glides through your shared zone. It then follows New Moon and the solar eclipse (on 14th) into your travel, studies, ethics and legal zone. This all marks a fresh start in some way and from 15th Venus brings pleasure through exploring the world (physically or meta-physically) and through interactions with people from different countries or cultures.

The biggest news this month though is the departure of Saturn and Jupiter from your 10th House of father, career and social status. Saturn has been holding you down for three years, perhaps with added responsibilities or restrictions. This will have forced you to carry out a review of how you had been dealing with these things in the past and how you want to deal with them in the future. The time to apply your conclusions has now arrived as Saturn moves on from 17th.

Jupiter has also been stimulating these issues with opportunities for growth. This completes on 19th and you can hopefully move forward wiser and better for this leaning process. Pluto remains in this area of your chart however for another four years, seeking further transformation and impelling you to explore the use of power by others and of course yourself!

Saturn and Jupiter both move into your 11th House. Your new area of learning and expansion is going to be in friends, groups, community, campaigns and humanitarian ideals! Collective visions will be looking for leaders. Are you ready?

Taurus:    Your ruling planet Venus is helping to bring pleasure and harmony through relationships and partnerships until 15th. Venus then joins all the action happening in your 8th House of joint funds, intimacy and sharing. The New Moon and solar eclipse takes place here on 14th which marks a new cycle and Venus adds pleasure here too!

You may benefit from ‘the money of others’ as the 8th House also covers the money of partners, taxes, debts and inheritances. The 8th House also covers the fundamental processes of life: birth, sex and death, including the small deaths and rebirths we go through at various transition points in our lives. Sharing and the allocation of resources could be part of this new cycle too.

Your unconscious is once again on your side as Mars moves forwards. This challenges your world view, principles or belief system in some way though around 15th – 23rd. Two of the three heavy-weight planets that have been demanding your attention and deep thought all year (and before) are moving out this month. Saturn completes its review on 17th, leaving you free to apply your conclusions on travel, the world, different countries, cultures and belief systems (including your own), ethics, the law or natural laws.

Whereas Saturn has been presenting you with one or more of these matters for three years, Jupiter has also been involved for the past year, urging you to grow. Jupiter too moves out this month on 19th.

And your new area for growth, expansion, opportunity and learning is your 10th House of father, career and social status. New responsibilities may arrive. Your ambitions and status will be tested and boosted. A new world of possibilities awaits!

Gemini:    You will enjoy tending yourself on a physical level and your daily rituals will be a source of pleasure during the first half of the month, as Venus continues through your work, health and service to others zone until 15th. This is also good for relations with colleagues and daily companions (including pets).

Then from 15th Venus glides into your opposite sign, helping to smooth along and bring pleasure to relationships and partnerships. This is very timely as just one day before on 14th the New Moon and Solar Eclipse fall in this same area of your solar chart, marking a fresh start in an existing relationship or a new partnership (which includes professional partners). Your ruling p!anet Mercury is here too which makes for a lot of thought and communication around the significant new cycle that this brings.

Mars is generating energy in your friends, groups and community zone all month. You may have energy to give to campaigns or humanitarian movements and politics may anger you into action too. The only thing to watch out for here are power struggles around 15th – 23rd, connected to joint funds, intimacy and sharing. How resources are distributed or used or who holds power over them may all be issues you feel moved to take action on.

Two huge players in the planetary hierarchy are moving this month out of your 8th House of birth, sex, death and transformation, joint funds (including taxes, debts and inheritances, intimacy and sharing. Saturn which has been presenting you with weighty issues connected to any of these areas for the past three years, moves out on 17th and you can now apply your conclusions. And Jupiter planet of growth and opportunity which has been around for a year, moves out on 19th.

The new destination for Saturn and Jupiter is your 9th House of travel, exploration, different cultures, the higher mind, principles, publishing, ethics and the truth. Your mind is in search of a broader, deeper reach. You are embarking on a great adventure full of lessons but also full of opportunities!

Cancer:    Romance or dealings with children and creative projects remain sweet until 15th. Then Venus glides into your work, health and service to others zone for the rest of the month. This is good for relations with colleagues and daily companions (including pets). You take pleasure too in your daily rituals and tending yourself on a physical level. On 14th New Moon and the solar eclipse mark a fresh start here too. Could it be time for a new regime in some way or a new job or volunteering position? Whichever department applies to you, make choices that will enhance your well-being.

You will be glad to note that your ambitions are moving forwards once again as Mars makes headway at the top of your chart in the public realm of father, career and social status. This may challenge the status quo with partners or partnerships though around 15th – 23rd.

You may also be pleased to know that Saturn which has been weighing down your relationships and partnerships zone for the past three years, leaves this area of your solar chart on 17th, freeing you to finally apply your hard-won conclusions! Jupiter which has been trying to free you up here or the past year moves on too on 19th. Pluto (and possible power battles) remain for another four years but many lessons should now have been learnt.

As Saturn and Jupiter move into Aquarius, you can now move on to explore your new area of learning: joint funds, sharing and intimacy. Joint funds includes joint accounts, taxes, debts and inheritances. While the transformational processes of life which are also ruled by your 8th House, include birth, sex, death and transformation! This does not necessarily mean a physical death, it applies to one era of life ending and another beginning. Welcome the new adventure and be open to deep learning!

Leo:    Venus is helping to smooth things along on the home front and in dealings with mother-figures until 15th. You may also want to beautify your home or share its pleasures with others through entertaining or just take comfort there yourself.

Your interest may be more piqued though from 15th when Venus glides into your 5th House of romance, children and creativity. (These are some of Leos’ favourite things!) The day before Venus arrives, there is a dramatic New Moon and solar eclipse here which marks a fresh start in one or more of these areas of life in some way. Romance is always a pleasure but depends on a responsive other, whereas creative projects are completely within your grasp! Seize this great start!

Mars is forging ahead all month in your travel, education and culture zone. You have energy and find energy involving yourself with these. Different belief systems and cultures create interest. Laws. principles and ethics may also be areas you feel drawn to take action on. There is a wide world to explore, physically (including the great outdoors) or virtually or meta-physically.

Keep an eye out though in your dealings with colleagues or daily companions around 15th – 23rd when there may be a danger of you insisting you are right, to the detriment of those relationships. You may be right but your survival does not usually depend on that. It is humane to politely make your point but allow others an escape route occasionally.

Big boys Saturn and Jupiter leave your work, health and service to others zone on 17th and 19th. In Saturn’s case this marks the end of a three-year period of hard work that has achieved concrete results. You can now apply any conclusions that you have come to during this period of building a foundation for yourself. Jupiter has been pushing for your growth for the past year too and your daily routine and spiritual practices should leave you in a better place than you were in a year ago.

As Saturn and Jupiter move into Aquarius, your next area for learning, review, expansion and growth is in your 7th House of relationships and partnerships (including professional partnerships). Prepare to embark on an absorbing adventure in the year ahead!

Virgo:    Communications and trading go very well during the first half of the month as Venus smooths the way, bringing pleasure through speaking, writing, learning, teaching, physical movement and dealings with the general public, neighbours and siblings.

Then from 15th Venus moves into your mother and home zone. The New Moon and solar eclipse the day before on 14th mark a significant new cycle here. This can involve self-nurture and personal development, as well as your approach to your home and dealings with mother-figures.

Mars is very active all month in your joint funds, intimacy and sharing zone. This can heighten passions or make you more determined to put your financial interactions with others in order. This can include taxes, debts, joint accounts and inheritances. Be aware though that steps you take around 15th – 23rd could disrupt love affairs, children, speculation or creative projects in some way.

Two big planets change sign this month. Saturn and Jupiter that have just spent three years and one year respectively in your romance, children and creativity zone move. Saturn leaves on 17th and Jupiter on 19th. This is a big shift for us all, including you! Hopefully you have grown during this process. And with lessons learnt, you can now apply your conclusions.

The new focus is on your 6th House of work, health and service to others: areas with Virgoans understand perhaps better than any of us! This will be another opportunity to excel in making the world a better place by being of service. Help us all to find the devotion that comes so naturally to you!

Libra:    Your ruling planet Venus helps to keep finances looking rosy until 15th. Venus then adds charm and helps to smooth along communications, especially with siblings, neighbours and with trading. Short journeys should be pleasurable too. The New Moon and solar eclipse on 14th mark a new era in communications. Do not forget to include different forms of physical movement in the wider subject of communications too.

Partners or partnership issues are thankfully moving forwards once again all month, although there may be an impasse around 15th – 23rd when they challenge the power balance relating to mother or home… Or if you have big plans for a personal development project, that too may become a target…

You will have achieved a lot over the past three years while Saturn has been residing as your teacher in your 4th House of mother and home, roots, foundations and personal development. Jupiter has been offering opportunities for growth and expansion here too over the past year. But both of these big players move out of this segment of your solar chart on 17th and 19th respectively and a new adventure begins!

The new adventure lies in your 5th House of romance, children and creativity. And there will be tests, lessons and growth. Welcome them all!

Scorpio:    Your charms continue to dazzle others up to 15th as Venus continues to glide through your sign, making you even more irresistible than usual! Venus then moves into your 2nd House of money, possessions, security and values which is a busy area this month. Venus usually helps finances to look rosier. In addition the New Moon and solar eclipse on 14th also fall in this area of your solar chart which marks a fresh start of some kind here too. This would be a good point to draw up a new budget, consider new income streams or to revisit your values and steer your life more closely in line with them.

You will be more pro-active on the work and health front this month too as Mars provides the drive and determination to push forwards. This could be a new health regime, changes to your daily routine or a more dynamic you at work. You may be more direct with colleagues and daily companions and more assertive. Be careful though between 15th – 23rd when you could get carried away by the need to be ‘right’. You may well be right but your survival does not usually depend on others agreeing with you. Allow space for others to hold different views.

The biggest shift this month is the end of Saturn and Jupiter’s stay in your communications zone. Saturn moves out on 17th, completing a three-year stay and Jupiter moves out on 19th, having been there for a year. This completes the first part of a long review, looking at communications, mindset, thought patterns and dealings with siblings, neighbours or traders. You can now start to apply any conclusions you have come to over this three year review. Pluto remains in this area of your solar chart for another four years, so there is more work to do but you have now graduated on part one!

The next area for growth and review as Saturn and Jupiter move into Aquarius, is your 4th House of mother and home, attachment needs, nurture and personal development! Saturn will have much to teach you and Jupiter just wants you to grow. Give them every help.

Sagittarius:    The Sun ball remains in your court this month until 21st, radiating warmth, optimism and freer self-expression. Mercury lends you mental energy too until 20th. But of even more significance is the New Moon and solar eclipse on 14th in your sign! This marks a fresh take on identity, who you now are, how that should be expressed and new outlets for that expression. Venus arrives one day later on 15th to smooth the process along which also handily adds to your charms (until 8th Jan).

Mars is also heating up your romance, children and creativity zone. Heat can take the form of passion or conflict which is something to look out for around 15th – 23rd when your ‘passions’ could harm your pocket…

Your ruling planet Jupiter is on the move this month, after a year’s stay in your finance and security zone, it is heading out on 19th. Saturn makes the same journey on 17th, completing a three-year period of lessons regarding money, possessions, security, values and self-esteem. You can now apply your conclusions.

The new focus for Saturn and Jupiter is your 3rd House of communications, learning, dealings with siblings and neighbours, short journeys, physical movement and trading. Saturn will be carrying out a review and might consider a course of study. While buoyant Jupiter will be looking to broaden your mind. This should be a mentally-stimulating adventure!

Capricorn:    You can find pleasure through interactions with friends, groups and community (and campaigns go well too) until 15th when Venus starts to smooth things along in your 12th House. This covers compassion for the pain and suffering of others, dealings with institutions (prisons, hospitals and psychiatric units) your self-talk and inner-workings and creativity behind the scenes. These areas hold even more importance this month as the New Moon and solar eclipse on 14th fall in this same area of your solar chart, marking an important new cycle. Healing and therapy could be helpful here. Consider them.

Mars is once again making headway in your mother and home zone but progress here may challenge you personally in some way. Or a mother-figure or your role as maternal figure may cause you to look more closely at yourself and your dynamics. Be open to change!

You will have learnt many things about yourself over the past three years as your ruling planet Saturn has moved through your sign. The last year has also seen Jupiter urging you to grow and expand too. Hopefully you have made the most of these opportunities as both planets leave your sign this month! Saturn moves out on 17th leaving you to apply your conclusions and Jupiter leaves on 19th.

Your new area for review and growth is your 2nd House which rules money, possessions, security, values and self-esteem. Prepare yourself for an interesting ride!

Aquarius:    Venus is smoothing your path in your interactions with father or authority figures, career and social status until 15th. If you need favours from people in influential positions, be sure to ask. They are feeling well-inclined towards you and have your back.

The second half of the month has a completely different focus though as Venus glides into your friends, groups and community zone on 15th, one day after the New Moon and solar eclipse here on 14th. This marks a significant new cycle. Is there a group or campaign you would like to join or start?

Your mental energy should be high this month as Mars forges ahead in your thought and communication zone. You may be more forthright than usual with others too, especially siblings and neighbours. If there is a subject that you would like to study, you have the mental energy to pursue it, although new ideas may run up against your internal blocks mid-month and just after.

So much has been happening on a psychological level over the past few years, as three heavy-weight planets (Pluto, Saturn and more recently, Jupiter) have been occupying the unconscious part of your solar chart, the 12th House. This includes the pain and suffering of others, marginalised people on the edge of society, institutions (including prisons, hospitals and psychiatric units), the collective unconscious, healing, spirituality and creativity behind the scenes.

This opportunity for healing is continuing for another four years but part one of this process completes this month as Saturn and then Jupiter move out of your 12th House on 17th and 19th. You can now start to apply any conclusions you have come to over these past three years, as your first period of learning is now complete.

The big question is of course, where are these two significant planets heading next? And the answer is into Aquarius, your sign! This opens up a new period of growth and learning for you, looking at identity, who you truly are, how that can be expressed and outlets for that expression. On a collective level, Saturn and Jupiter moving together into Aquarius marks a new 200 year cycle and you, dear Aquarian are tuned in and will have a role in what that will mean for us all! The long-awaited age of Aquarius has not only dawned, it is here! And so are you!

Pisces:    Now that your ruling planet Neptune is once again moving forwards, you should be able to give your full attention to the demands of the month which are many. The first two weeks pass quite pleasantly with thoughts about travel and philosophy passing the time. And dealings with people from different countries and cultures will be a pleasure too.

The first major event of the month is the New Moon and solar eclipse on 14th in your father, career and social status zone. This marks a significant fresh start regarding your ambitions in some way. What would you like that to be? Venus arrives here too from 15th which inclines people in positions of authority to look on you favourably. So if you have favours to ask, go ahead.

Mars forges ahead in your finance zone all month, making you more pro-active and keen to generate new streams of income. It squares Pluto however in your friends, groups, community and campaigns zone from 15th – 23rd, when friends or campaigns and your pocket could clash…

Part one of lessons in your 11th House of friends, groups, community, campaigns and humanitarian ideals; completes this month as Saturn and then Jupiter leave this area of your solar chart on 17th and 19th. Having provided lessons and growth over the past three years, you can now start to apply what you have learnt. Pluto is staying for another four years though and there is more transformation for you to help along.

As Saturn and Jupiter close this door, they open another as they move into Aquarius which rules your 12th House of healing, compassion, spirituality, charities, your inner-workings, the collective unconscious, your online life and creativity behind the scenes. These are natural areas of resonance for Pisceans and there will be much to learn about yourself, your unconscious and the subtle world we are all energetically a part of. Be open to self-discovery!
